This edition of Prayer Time Radio is drawn from the second step in the prayer that Jesus used to teach His disciples how to pray in Matthew 6:9b.

HALLOWED BE THY NAME

There is power in the name of God. What is his name, you might ask? First, we need to understand that God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are not names but titles. Example: Your father is not named father but has a proper name. You maybe his son or daughter, but you have a proper name, don't you? In the same way that son and daughter are titles, so are the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The names atributed to God are representative of the mighty power and love and the presence of God. If we can learn to practice calling out the nam of God in the prayers of thanksgiving, praise and worship and the Holy Spirit will begin to rise up on the inside.

You see, faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, also referred to as the name of God. I say the name of God because the BIble says, "in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God. He lived among us and His name is called the word of God, (John 1:1,14 and Revelation 19:13). When we say His name out loud, not only are we saying it for Him to hear us, but also for us to hear it in our inner and outer ears. The sounds of the character of God resonates within our soul. The scripture says "death and life are in the power of the tongue," Proverbs 18:21. So, don't be hesitant about calling out the names of God in prayer.

Here's how I suggest you use the name of God in prayer.

For SIN, God granted us FORGIVENESS through Christ Jesus who is made unto us JEHOVAH-TSIDKENU, our righteousness and JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH, who SANCTIFIES us.

For SICKNESS, God gave us HEALTH and HEALING through JEHOVAH-ROPHE, our healer.

For WORRY and DOUBT, He gave us JEHOVAH-SHALOM, Jesus, our Prince of Peace.

For SORROW and LONELINESS, He gave us JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH, Jesus, a present help in the time of need and trouble.

For FAILURE, LACK and POVERTY, Jesus is made unto us JEHOVAH-JIREH, my God shall supply all our needs according to His riches in glory .

For FEAR of Death, Hell and the grave, He has given unto us JEHOVAH-NISSI, a banner for life and protection.

Last, but not least, is JEHOVAH-ROHI, our shepherd, our peace in the midst of the storms of life. He, Jesus leads us in the paths of righteousness for His name sake.

I think this is enough for this edition of Prayer Time Radio. Be sure to join us live for the Prayer time Radio program on 1600 AM radio at 7:00 a.m. every Saturday.

Prayer of Thanksgiving

Good morning and happy Thanksgiving. What a wonderful time to talk a little bit about prayer...the prayer of Thanksgiving on this special day that the United States set aside to offer our gratitude to someone or others for the good that has been done in our life.

I've heard some people say they don't know what to say when they begin to pray. One way to always start a prayer is with thanksgiving. Just begin to think about all the things that God has done for you, beginning with keeping you alive to know who you are and where you are presently. Just think about it, so many people don't even know that much.

Thank God for His Word! In Psalm 100:4, He tells us to "enter into His gates with THANKSGIVING and into his courts with praise; be thankful unto Him and bless His name."

Thank Him for watching over you last night and waking you up this morning and starting you on your way. Thanks Him for Jesus who gave His life as a ransom for yours. Had it not been for Him on your side you would not be here to read this article.

Thank God for your family; for divine protection and provisions. Thank Him for the opportunity to talk with Him. Just think about it... you can't talk to the president of your country this morning, can you? What a wonderful privilege we have to just talk to the creator and CEO of the entire universe. We can call Him Father by virtue of what His only begotten Son Jesus Christ did and is doing for us. The Bible tells us that Jesus is at the right hand of God the Father and lives to intercede in our behalf. (paraphrased in Hebrews 7:25).

I thank God for you reading this blog today and the ability He's given me to sit here at the this keyboard and write it and send it out via the internet.

My prayer is, may God richly bless you and yours this Thanksgiving day and forever.
