Prayer of Thanksgiving

Good morning and happy Thanksgiving. What a wonderful time to talk a little bit about prayer...the prayer of Thanksgiving on this special day that the United States set aside to offer our gratitude to someone or others for the good that has been done in our life.

I've heard some people say they don't know what to say when they begin to pray. One way to always start a prayer is with thanksgiving. Just begin to think about all the things that God has done for you, beginning with keeping you alive to know who you are and where you are presently. Just think about it, so many people don't even know that much.

Thank God for His Word! In Psalm 100:4, He tells us to "enter into His gates with THANKSGIVING and into his courts with praise; be thankful unto Him and bless His name."

Thank Him for watching over you last night and waking you up this morning and starting you on your way. Thanks Him for Jesus who gave His life as a ransom for yours. Had it not been for Him on your side you would not be here to read this article.

Thank God for your family; for divine protection and provisions. Thank Him for the opportunity to talk with Him. Just think about it... you can't talk to the president of your country this morning, can you? What a wonderful privilege we have to just talk to the creator and CEO of the entire universe. We can call Him Father by virtue of what His only begotten Son Jesus Christ did and is doing for us. The Bible tells us that Jesus is at the right hand of God the Father and lives to intercede in our behalf. (paraphrased in Hebrews 7:25).

I thank God for you reading this blog today and the ability He's given me to sit here at the this keyboard and write it and send it out via the internet.

My prayer is, may God richly bless you and yours this Thanksgiving day and forever.

Roger C. Bethel
